About

Musical Shape Shifter

My name is Beau Simpson, otherwise known as Beauie.  Beauie is an electronica music project that I work on outside of SAE which I have tried to develop mixing and recording skills throughout my study to improve, on top of learning key live sound skills. I completed live sound work placement with an old band member at The Triffid's Beer Garden and The Zoo, which has recently led me to be offered a slot working sound at Greeser Bar in Brisbane. I play regularly in a rock band called TOAK, which has been taking a DIY approach to production, of which my units at SAE have helped prepare me for. Below is my artist bio for Beauie.

"Beauie presents a soulful take on traditional electronic and downtempo electronica. His vocoder centred style is reminiscent of Daft Punk, yet adds a new and refreshing perspective featuring lo-fi timbres and instrumentation. When not creating homebrand Daft Punk, Beauie can be found playing bass in the Brisbane Rock group TOAK."

Deep love for his work

Every since first hearing the nostalgia inducing warmth of Daft Punk's 'Discovery' and the genre bending beauty of Gorillaz and N.E.R.D., Beauie has always longed to take a trip into the Electronic side of music. Armed with his Vocoder, Microkorg, and plethera of sonic bending pedals, Beauie seeks to forge is own mark in Electronica.

What is Beauie up to now?

After much anticipation, Beauie starts 2022 off with his Oblivious EP.  Beauie is keen to continue delivering new hits to soothe the mind and warm the soul.

SAE AUD181 Project 1 WAV

I Vocoded Through The Grapevine

Project 1 bounced WAV. For Project 1 we had to cover a preexisting song in a new style, out of the provided songs I chose Marvin Gaye's version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. This required significant reharmonization, and the production  reference was Daft Punk's Da Funk and Around The World.

SAE AUD181 Project 2 WAV.

Afterglow

Project 2 WAV bounce. AFterglow was a provided song and ProTools session that my group recreated using analog processing and recording techniques. The final product used Tones and I and The Presets as a reference for the vocals, drums and synth production.
